New Aston Martin AMB 001 Pro superbike unveiled in Milan
The AMB 001 Pro is a superbike created by Aston Martin and bike specialist Brough Superior
Aston Martin has a bit of history with track-only hypercars with the Vulcan AMR Pro and now the British firm is trying its hand at track-only superbikes, in collaboration with legendary motorbike company Brough Superior.
This may sound a little bit like déjà vu, because Aston Martin and Brough Superior teamed up in 2019 for the AMB 001 superbike. The new AMB 001 Pro intends to take that bike’s performance to the next level, with more power and a bold new look.
Launched at Milan’s EICMA Motorcycle Show, the AMB 001 Pro features a dual-cylinder, 997cc engine and the crankcase is fully machined from an aluminium billet. Aston Martin says this helps improve stiffness and a new cylinder design improves cooling. Like on the 001, there’s a turbocharger on board but the Pro pumps out 25 per cent more power - at 225bhp.
With the extra grunt (the power to weight ratio is similar to an F1 car, says Aston Martin), downforce has also been increased with a new front spoiler and side wings. The front cowling is now fixed to the body to help channel air over the rider. There’s even a rear fin with an aero stabiliser to help with the drag coefficient.
Aston Martin claims its new bike, which is offered only for track-use, was inspired by the Valkyrie AMR Pro. A single colour scheme is available - with Aston Martin’s Verdant Jade combined with carbon fibre and lime and black paint.
The AMB 001 was limited to 100 units and the Pro will be even more rare with just 88 units scheduled for production at Brough Superior’s Toulouse plant. Although order books are open, Aston Martin hasn’t said how much the Pro will cost. Those who have managed to secure one will see first deliveries take place in late 2023.
