Be Afraid: Dodge Charger Pursuit police car revealed
Dodge reveals terrifying 2015 Charger police car to keep the criminal element in check
This is a police car you wouldn't want to mess with. The 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit police car has arrived and it's certainly a mean looking machine. With huge front bull bars, projector beam headlights and a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 under the bonnet, anyone attempting a quick getaway will have another thing coming.
The V8 has 370bhp, 390lb ft of torque and can help the car sprint from 0-60mph in less than six seconds, but, if you're a more restrained police force, you can opt for the Pentastar V6 with 292bhp and 260lb ft of torque on tap.
To deal with all the challenges an American police officer might face on the road, the Charger comes with a reinforced rear-wheel-drive chassis - all-wheel-drive is also available on the V8 - as well as performance suspension, heavy duty brakes and stabiliser bars all round.
To add to the intimidating exterior, Dodge has given the Charger a wide grille and slim daytime running lights with the aim of creating a confident "superhero" stance. On the inside, there's a driver focused layout with a full colour instrument cluster, police-duty front seats that can accommodate an officer's belt-mounted gear and a decent amount of scope for customisation thanks to Mopar.
Options offered by Mopar consist of electrical performance upgrades, steel seat backs to protect against damage by any over-lively culprits in the rear seats and an all-important 100-watt siren speaker.
